Equal Educational Opportunity/Non-Discrimination

It is the policy of the School Board that all students have access to a fair and equal education, free from discrimination. This policy is established in FCPS Policy 403P, Students - Equal Education Opportunity/Non-Discrimination, which emphasizes that no student should be treated unfairly based on characteristics such as race, gender, disability, or any other legally protected trait. The goal is to create an inclusive educational environment where the needs of every student are met, and all students are treated with respect and dignity.

If a student feels they have been discriminated against, or if they know of discrimination occurring, they are encouraged to report it to the designated compliance officer.  The school board has designated the Director of Student Support Services to serve as the compliance officer to investigate the issue fairly and promptly. Additionally, Policy 403P ensures that students will not face retaliation for reporting discrimination, and it provides a process for addressing complaints. This helps foster a safe and supportive school community for everyone.
